We’ve been working on The Unloved. VFX Designer Chris Panton has pulled off 15 shots of the invisible variety - subtle, muted and often toned down, the work was to set up to connect moments and create moods in this powerful and compelling story. Using Visual Effects to find a way of telling that story at difficult key moments, we often nailed it first time and at other times found it difficult to find a balance.
We worked closely with Director Samantha Morton and Editor Colin Monie, we’ve had the luck to play a small part in the making of this wonderful film.
The Unloved is the directorial debut of Samantha Morton and a powerful drama about a young girl growing up in a children’s home. Filmed in Morton’s home town of Nottingham it is co-written with writer Tony Grisoni and produced by Kate Ogborn for Revolution Films. Cast includes Robert Carlyle, Susan Lynch, Craig Parkinson and Andrea Lowe alongside the two young leads - Molly Windsor as Lucy and Lauren Socha as Lauren.
The drama is part of a Channel 4 season of programmes called ‘Britain’s Forgotten Children’, which will put the care system under the spotlight, and ask why a quarter of the children up for adoption each year can’t find a family.
